Three males arrested for armed robbery of convenience store
Three males have been arrested and are facing several criminal charges in connection to an armed robbery that occurred just before 6:00 a.m. last Tuesday morning, at a First Street convenience store.
On Tuesday April 17th 2018, at approximately 6:00 a.m., three males entered First Street Variety located at 7 First Street in Orangeville. The store had just opened for business. The males approached the counter and demanded the contents of the cash register from the female victim. One of the suspects brandished a firearm. The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, cigarettes and miscellaneous items. The victim was not injured during the incident.
On Wednesday April 18th, at approximately 2:10 a.m., the suspects were apprehended by Peel Regional Police, as they attempted to flee from a stolen vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, three males, whose identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, were arrested and taken into custody.
Each of the three males are facing several criminal charges including Robbery Using a Firearm, Wearing a Disguise With Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
The accused males were all held in custody in Brampton pending bail hearings on charges by Peel Regional Police.
On Wednesday, April 25th two of the accused males were transported to Orangeville Courthouse where they were formally charged and on Friday, April 27th the third male party was also transported to Orangeville Courthouse and was formally charged.
All three accused males were held in custody pending bail hearings regarding the allegations.
