Police participate in Cops For Cancer event

The Orangeville Police Service is turning to the community to support their 2018 Cops For Cancer fundraising initiative.

Members of the Orangeville Police Service, along with colleagues from other area emergency services, are joining together to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. The 2018 Cops For Cancer event will feature participants shaving their heads in an event at Orangeville Town Hall on Saturday May 26, 2018. The ceremony will begin at 10:00am in the courtyard of Town Hall, located at 87 Broadway in Orangeville. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will move to the Atrium inside of Town Hall.

“Cancer has touched everybody in one way or another and we are happy to be able to play a small role in the fight against this widespread illness”, said Chief Wayne Kalinski. “We are grateful for the ongoing support of our generous community”.

Members of the police service have set a goal to raise $10,000 during this initiative. The public can support this event in a variety of ways. Cash donations can be made either online at the Cops For Cancer Orangeville 2018 web page: http://convio.cancer.ca/site/TR?fr_id=24101&pg=entry, by contacting Constable Scott Davis at 519-941-2522 ext. 2221 or [email protected] or by attending the Orangeville Police Service in person at 390 C Line, Orangeville.

“Our hope is that the community will support our campaign at any level that they can”, said Constable Scott Davis. “There are close to 30,000 people in our community. If we received even a dollar or two, from half of our residents, it would be a fabulous accomplishment”.

The Orangeville Police Service is challenging their community service partners and local businesses to register teams to achieve “Top Fundraiser” status. To register a team, please visit the Cops For Cancer Orangeville 2018 web page: http://convio.cancer.ca/site/TR?fr_id=24101&pg=entry
