Police investigate suspicious person and vehicle

Your Orangeville Police Service is investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle and male, after an incident yesterday afternoon (Monday, June 4) near the intersection of Third Avenue and Second Street.

On Monday, June 4, at approximately 4:00pm, a 15-year-old male was on his bicycle travelling west on Third Street when a white van pulled up beside him. The male driver reportedly told the youth to “hop in” the van. The male stopped the van and exited the vehicle at which time the youth turned around and left the area in the opposite direction. The youth observed the man get back in the vehicle and continue driving west on Third Avenue towards First Street. Orangeville Police contacted the youth after observing FaceBook posts about the incident this morning.

The vehicle is described as a white full size van, with lettering making reference to “Pools and Spas” on the sides of it. The driver is described as male white, middle age, wearing a black ball cap and black jeans.

Police are continuing their investigation and would like to hear from anyone who may be able to assist in identifying the vehicle and driver. Police are also interested in speaking with anyone residing on Third Avenue, who has a home video security system.
