Mildmay man arrested for Impaired Driving

The Orangeville Police Service has arrested and charged a Mildmay man with Impaired Driving after a citizen reported an erratic driver early Sunday morning.

On Sunday, July 29, 2018 at 12:10 am, Orangeville Police was contacted by a citizen who was following a red Dodge Caravan on Townline. The citizen described the vehicle as operating in an erratic manner. Officers located the vehicle and attempted to stop it. The vehicle eventually pulled over but started to drive away as an officer approached the van. The officer was able to reach into the open driver side window and shut the vehicle off.

The driver was placed under arrest and taken into custody.

Michael Earl Potter, 55, of Mildmay, Ontario, was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Refusing to Provide a Breath Sample. He was eventually released from custody and is scheduled to appear in count in Orangeville on August 14, 2018, to answer to the allegations.

Potters driver’s license was suspended for a mandatory 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
