Jelly Roll and ‘dysfunctional family’ hit the stage at State College show

Jelly Roll blew the roof off the Bryce Jordan Center on Tuesday as he toured the country as part of his “Beautiful Broken” tour.

The Nashville singer brought Alexandra Kay and Hershey, Pa. native and rising country singer Warren Zeiders is also with him. Kay started the show with exciting performances of her original songs. She was wearing a typical country girl outfit with sparkly shorts and shiny cowboy boots.

Kay set the tone for the night by commandeering the stage for 30 minutes of her set. He interacted with fans the entire time, even buying homemade bracelets from concertgoers and giving away his guitar pick to one lucky fan who sang along with his entire set.

Zeiders was next and the crowd went wild.

Sporting sunglasses, a PSU-inspired shirt, and long curly hair, Zeiders took to the stage with real fire surrounding him. The artist, who was nominated for the first time at the Country Music Awards and recently won the 2023 CMT Award for “Breakthrough Male Video of the Year,” delivered a spectacular performance.

Fans enjoyed the entire set and went wild during the singer’s performances of “Pretty Little Poison” and “Relapse.” Pa. The local embraced his roots and put on an electric show.

Jelly Roll took the stage around 21:00 in the evening and opened by walking through the crowd with his wife Bunnie XO. The couple high-fived, shook hands with fans and kissed before Jelly Roll took the stage.

The Nashville singer got the show off to a strong start with “Halfway to Hell” and “Son of Sinner,” before introducing some of the band members, including guitarist Hangover Jack and drummer Pork Chop.

“Do you want to see a fat man move?” This was the singer’s next question before they were halfway through the set. He continued to review his discography and at one point welcomed the newcomers to his “family.”

“Welcome to our dysfunctional family; this is no longer a concert, it’s a family reunion,” said Jelly Roll.

Jelly Roll has shown himself to be a dynamic artist who radiates positive energy and puts on a show like no other country concert or artist this year. With gripping sets and a phenomenal band, he proved why he is so popular.

His performance was complete with a skull floating on stage, pyrotechnics, and a live band that really stole the show at times.

After ending her performance with “Save Me,” the singer gave fans one last word of encouragement, thanked the State College audience for their time and even talked about another performance next year.

“Never give up on yourself, Dad,” Jelly Roll said. “Be safe on your way out, Penn State, and remember that love is all that matters. “I love you all, see you next year.”

Jelly Roll He will return to Pa. on Oct. 2 in Philadelphia and again on Oct. 5 in Pittsburgh. His new album “Beautiful Broken” will be released on October 11.
