Google announces 2 new Chromebooks with AI features

Google has launched two new Chromebooks (Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus and Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11) along with AI-powered features designed to boost productivity. These devices are part of Google’s ongoing efforts to make tasks simpler and more efficient by integrating advanced AI tools into everyday technology. Starting at $350, these Chromebooks come with Google’s Gemini model and offer features like Help Me Read and Live Translate.

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus

The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus costs $699. It is designed for users who need a lightweight and portable device. Weighing just 2.58 pounds and less than half an inch thin, this Chromebook is among the thinnest and lightest on the market. It has an Intel Core i3 100U (Raptor Lake-R) processor, 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage, providing enough power for multitasking and daily use. The Chromebook features a 15.6-inch OLED display that delivers sharp and vibrant visuals for work, entertainment or casual browsing. With up to 13 hours of battery life, users can work or travel all day long without needing to recharge.

A unique feature of the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus is the Quick Add key, a dedicated button that provides quick access to essential tools. This includes shortcuts for typing help, adding emojis or GIFs, and adding links easily without switching between windows. This key is currently exclusive to the Samsung model, but will be available for other Chromebooks next year.

Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11

Starting at $339, the Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11 is a versatile device that can switch between laptop and tablet modes thanks to its built-in kickstand. It has a 10.95 inch WUXGA touch screen and is powered by the MediaTek Kompanio 838 processor. With up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, the Chromebook offers good performance for everyday tasks like web browsing, streaming, and document editing. It also supports Lenovo USI Pen 2 (sold separately), enabling precise note-taking and drawing.

New AI-Powered Features in Chromebook Plus

Google has rolled out several new AI tools across all Chromebook Plus models. The Help Me Read feature summarizes PDFs, articles, and websites and allows users to highlight sections for deeper understanding. Live Translation facilitates communication between different languages by providing real-time translation of content in more than 100 languages. The Recorder app uses AI-powered enhancements like video calls, studio-style microphone simulation, and appearance adjustments to improve lighting and audio to transcribe audio and create summaries of recordings.
