Community remembers beloved teacher killed in Hurricane Helene

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ/Gray News) – A community in Virginia continues to clean up after Hurricane Helene as it remembers a beloved teacher who was among those killed.

On Monday, a moment of silence was observed in memory of Montgomery County teacher Holly King.

King was a special education teacher at East Montgomery High School, but unfortunately did not survive the deadly storm that blew through the area over the weekend.

The high school teacher is remembered for her “constant kindness and beautiful smile.”

East Montgomery’s volleyball teams played their matches at Roanoke Catholic School on Monday as the crowd and teams paid their respects to King.

Green was King’s favorite color, and fans wore green on both teams in his honor.
