If trying a particular local dish or a highly praised restaurant influences your choice of vacation destination, this ranking may be useful. Tripadvisor, the world’s largest travel guide platform, ranks everything from hotels to beaches as part of its Travelers’ Choice Awards every year.

For foodies, the Best of the Best Restaurants awards can lead you to some of the best restaurants in Europe. Awards announced based on 12 months of global review data Tripadvisor reviewers’ favorite places to eat In nine categories for 2024: Casual Dining, Date Night, Fine Dining, Hidden Wonders, Outdoor, Pet Friendly, Sustainable, Quick Snacks, and Vegan and Vegetarian.

The Pet-Friendly category is new for 2024, and three European restaurants took the top spot. Another new category this year, Sustainable Restaurants, rewards restaurants with a commitment to protecting the environment. From a castle-top restaurant in Slovenia to fine dining in Iceland, this list showcases some of Europe’s best dining experiences that also benefit our planet.

Europe’s Best Pet-Friendly Restaurants

Pomelo Bistro Bar in Poland took first place among pet-friendly restaurants. Located in the center of Gdańsk Main Town, this is a favorite spot for breakfast, which can be ordered until 13:00, as well as homemade jams and beers from the local brewery. Vivi Cafe-La Brasserie 15 on the shores of Lake Garda in Italy came in second, while Olondi Restaurant on the Greek island of Crete came in third.

Europe’s Best Restaurants for Al fresco Dining

The new outdoor dining category recognizes the world’s best restaurants where the outdoor setting is perfectly paired with world-class culinary offerings. The top spot was taken by the “Greek Creative Cuisine” held in Athens, Greece. “Our mission was and still is to open our “big house,” a welcoming restaurant serving Greek Creative Cuisine with the finest hospitality,” the owners write.

The restaurant has a rating of 5.0 on Tripadvisor. Coming in second place is Tonnarello in Rome’s lively Trastevere district.

Europe’s Best Restaurants for Fine Dining

The ranking’s fine dining and date night lists offer the best recommendations for the complete luxury dining experience in Europe. Three Michelin Stars and restaurants owned by celebrity chefs top this year’s list of high-end restaurants. Restaurant Pic in Valence, France, ranks first, while Northcote Restaurant in Lancashire, England, ranks third.

According to Tripadvisor reviews, a rich selection of wines and an elegant atmosphere form the basis of a romantic evening. Two restaurants, Ginger A La Carte and Mylos A La Carte, at the Athens Street Atlantica Imperial Resort in Kolimbia, Greece, take second and third place in the date night rankings.

Europe’s Best Sustainable Restaurants

List of restaurants awarded EuropeIt tops the Michelin-starred Restaurant Château Neercanne in Maastricht, the Netherlands. On a large rural estate, diners enjoy locally caught seafood. Cornwall pub Blue Peter Inn in Polperro comes in second, offering sustainable, locally caught fish from its picturesque seaside location.
