EPA Announces Cal Water’s 2024 WaterSense® Award of Excellence Winner for the Second Consecutive Year

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 30, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — NYSE: CWT—For the second consecutive year, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has honored California Water Service (Cal Water) with WaterSense® Award for Excellence in Promoting WaterSense Labeled Products. EPA awarded the 2024 national award to Cal Water for the agency’s commitment and partnership in helping customers use water more efficiently.

This award recognizes a partner that goes above and beyond to help consumers understand the value of water use efficiency and aligns with EPA’s focus on assisting in these efforts. Last year, more than 1,660 WaterSense-labeled, Cal Water-labeled, Utilities services were installed through Cal Water’s free Smart Landscape Adjustment Program, which provides assessments and repair/renovation services by a certified irrigation professional through a WaterSense-approved program, and through the utility’s comprehensive conservation rebate program. Weather-based irrigation controllers and 8,000 WaterSense labeled spray sprinkler heads were installed in the fields. Additionally, beyond the free, high-efficiency savings kits already offered to residential customers, Cal Water distributed kits to sixth-graders to take home and provide their families with WaterSense-labeled shower heads and faucet aerators for use.

In total, WaterSense-labeled devices installed in customers’ homes and businesses in 2023 through Cal Water’s conservation rebate programs, Smart Landscape Adjustment Program, and conservation kits will save an estimated 395.1 million gallons of water over the life of the devices.
