Nexus Car Rental is making senior management changes

Nexus has appointed Gerry McCaig as chief operating officer and Stuart Miles as chief revenue officer.

McCaig and Miles will work with the rest of the board to further develop the offering and products and take business growth to the next level.

In his role as chief operating officer, McCaig will be tasked with delivering scalable growth and advancements into new markets, as well as existing product and service development.

He previously served as chief operating officer and chief operating officer at British Gas Energy and JLA respectively.

In his role as chief revenue officer, Miles aims to integrate customer center solutions while seeking new initiatives that will help drive sustainable revenue growth.

He had also previously spent two decades in commercial leadership roles in the vehicle and rental industry.

Nexus CEO Scott Haddow said: “Gerry and Stuart join the team at a pivotal time for Nexus. Their extensive experience, motivation and ambition will help us take our offering further than ever before.”

Road Angel appoints former leader of the House of Commons

Road Angel has appointed Sir Mark Spencer, former Conservative MP for Sherwood and leader of the House of Commons, as director of partnerships on the Road Angel board.

The British-owned brand has increased its consumer retail share of the UK dashcam market by 316% per year to the first quarter of 2024, and the company continues to expand its global network of 12 retail partners including Halfords, Amazon, Costco, Vauxhall, Car Audio Headquarters and Comet.

Road Angel sales director Gary Digva said: “Mark brings a unique wealth of experience to the industry, including his work on the government’s international trade strategy and the formulation of international trade agreements.

“His legacy of 21 years as a councilor and member of parliament, serving on several key trade committees, will be of tremendous value, especially at a time when business is accelerating so rapidly around the world.

“Mark’s interest in ensuring British products are recognized and promoted as premium aligns with our vision for the Road Angel brand both in the UK and globally.”

During his time as an MP, Spencer served on various committees, including the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee.

In 2016, he was appointed Deputy Government Whip to the State Whip Office. He has also held a variety of other roles in the Office of Whips, including HM Lord Commissioner to the Treasury (2017-2018), HM Deputy Household Councilor (2018) and HM Controller of the Household (2018-2019).

In July 2019, then Prime Minister Boris Johnson appointed him to the Cabinet as Chief Whip and Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury.

He held the post until February 2022, when the Prime Minister appointed Mark as Leader of the House of Commons and Lord President of the Council.

Following Liz Truss’ election as Prime Minister, she was appointed Minister of State in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and was reappointed under Chancellor Rishi Sunak.

Keyloop appoints Tim Smith as chief strategy officer

Keyloop has appointed ATG’s former CEO Tim Smith as its chief strategy officer (CSO), following its acquisition of ATG in May and the integration of both companies to create automotive retail platform (ARP) Fusion.

As CSO, Smith will lead a newly formed strategy function that drives the positioning and development of Fusion, covering value proposition and marketing.

He said: “I am excited to step into this new role at Keyloop. We have a unique opportunity to unlock value for our customers through the power of a connected ARP.

“The four areas have been strategically designed to create a high-level framework that will help our customers benefit from the extensive experience of our people and the scale of our technology deployments.

ZeroMission appoints CTO to drive innovation

Electric vehicle (EV) commercial fleet software specialist ZeroMission has strengthened its senior executive team with the appointment of Alan Crowley as chief technology officer (CTO).

He will be responsible for leading technological innovation within the business, using the latest advances in artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analytics to help shape the future of electric mobility and zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) fleet management.

“Commercial fleets are under huge pressure to decarbonise their operations, but this can only be truly achieved through the efficient deployment and ongoing management of electric vehicles,” Crowley explained.

“ZeroMission is at the forefront of fleet electrification by developing a fully integrated software platform, and I am excited about the contribution I can make in helping businesses successfully transition.”

Crowley has more than 25 years of experience in software development and IT consulting. He has worked across a variety of industry sectors including e-mobility, utilities, global supply chain and manufacturing, designing innovative solutions and applying cutting-edge technologies to optimize processes, increase efficiency and maximize the benefits of automation.

National Windscreens appoints new sustainability and compliance manager

National Windscreens has appointed Craig Gibson as its new sustainability and compliance manager, highlighting the company’s commitment to sustainable operations.

In his new role, he will lead the company’s sustainability team and oversee regulatory compliance and health and safety across the business.

His 21 years of experience in the automotive glazing industry provides him with extensive knowledge about the industry.

He started his career at National Windscreens as a trainee technician at their Southampton branch, where he rose to the position of regional trainer and NVQ assessor after gaining NVQ level 2 and 3 qualifications.

He was last appointed as ESG manager in March 2023. He said: “This promotion allows me to use my hands-on industry experience to oversee and develop the company’s sustainability initiatives and ensure compliance with industry regulations.

“National Windscreens is a great workplace that provides continuous learning opportunities and fosters a supportive environment that has enabled my career to flourish.”

City Auction Group names new head of business development

City Auction Group has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Lee Connor as new head of business development with immediate effect.

Connor has over 20 years of experience in the vehicle remarketing industry, having worked at Wilsons Auctions initially as an auctioneer trainee, later moving into fleet corporate and field sales positions and more recently as a branch auction manager and auctioneer.

He was responsible for corporate accounts at the branch and business development in Northern Ireland, and was primarily responsible for promoting and developing corporate fleet customer relationships across the UK.

In this new role, as head of business development, he will be tasked with developing City Auction Group’s client portfolio through key partnerships across all services and focusing on the further development of existing relationships through effective and personalized client management across the group.

He said: “I’m really excited about the journey. City Auction Group has experienced rapid growth in recent times and, working alongside a strong and experienced team led by our visionary CEO, I will help to further develop our services to both existing and potential clients. These are exciting times for business.

“As an auctioneer, I am truly looking forward to stepping into the purple lane, gavel in hand, to auction quality stocks on behalf of our many partners.”
