Rumours suggest that the cast includes Pooja Hegde, Mohanlal and Mamitha Baiju.

The actor’s popularity in the South increased with his performance in the movie Kanguva.

Thalapathy Vijay’s latest film, tentatively titled Thalapathy 69, has been in the news for a long time now. The audience is eagerly waiting for the new update of the much-awaited film. According to a latest report, Thalapathy Vijay will be joining Bollywood actor Bobby Deol in the last film of his career and then he will dive into politics completely.

A recent report suggested that Bobby has been finalised to play the main villain in Vijay’s yet-to-be-titled film. There is no confirmation on this yet. The actor’s popularity in the South has definitely skyrocketed after his performance in Kanguva. The film is yet to release, but Bobby’s intimidating persona as a tribal leader in Suriya’s film has won the hearts of the audience.

Besides Vijay and Bobby Deol, the film is also said to feature Pooja Hegde, Mohanlal, Mamitha Baiju and Jisshu Sengupta in important roles.

The film is produced by KVN Productions and co-produced by Jagadish Palanisamy and Lohith NK. The film’s music and background score is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, marking his fifth collaboration with Vijay after Kaththi (2014), Master (2021), Beast (2022), Leo (2023), and his first collaboration with H. Vinoth. Thalapathy 69 is scheduled for a worldwide release in October 2025.

Meanwhile, Vijay was recently seen in the film The Greatest of All Time. This action film is directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by AGS Entertainment. The film stars Vijay in dual roles alongside Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Mohan, Ajmal Ameer, Jayaram, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Vaibhav, Yogi Babu, Premgi Amaren, Yugendran and VTV Ganesh.

The budget of the film is 380-400 crore rupees and is said to be AGS’s most expensive film and one of the most expensive Indian films.

The Greatest of All Time was released worldwide in standard and IMAX formats on 5 September, and received mixed reviews from critics. While critics praised Vijay’s performance, the action scenes and the climax, the lack of character development and writing were criticized. The film broke several box office records for a Tamil film and emerged as the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2024 and the third-highest-grossing Indian film of 2024.
