Mahindra Veero LCV launched in India for Rs 7.99 Lakh

Homegrown automotive major Mahindra & Mahindra today launched its Veero light commercial vehicle (LCV) at a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Situated in the 2 tonne to 3.5 tonne category, the Mahindra Veero is based on the new Urban Prosper Platform (UPP), India’s first multi-energy modular CV platform that can spawn both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric models.

The UPP is designed to support payloads from 1 tonne to 2+ tonnes across multiple deck lengths and can accommodate multiple powertrain options including diesel, CNG and electric. As of now, the Veero is available with diesel and CNG powertrains. Although there is an electric version, Mahindra has not announced the timeline for its market entry.

The new LCV is available with two engine options: 1.5-litre mDI diesel (80bhp max power and 210Nm peak torque) and Turbo mCNG (90bhp max power and 210Nm peak torque). Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Fuel consumption is claimed to be 18.4 km/l for the Veero diesel and 19.2 km/kg for the Veero CNG. The Veero CNG is claimed to have a range of over 500km with an additional 5-litre petrol tank. Mahindra claims a service interval of 20,000km for the Veero.

The Veero has customisable cargo options. There are two cargo lengths — 2,765 mm (XL) and 3,035 mm (XXL). You get three cargo types — CBC, Standard Deck (SD) and High Deck (HD). The payload capacity is up to 1.6 tonnes for the diesel version and 1.5 tonnes for the CNG version. The Veero’s turning radius of 5.1 metres is claimed to be the best in the segment.

As for trims, there are three — V2, V4 and V6. Below are the variant-wise prices (ex-showroom) of the Mahindra Veero.

  1. V2 CBC XL – Rs 7.99 lakh
  2. V2 SD XL – Rs 8.49 lakh
  3. V2 CBC XXL – Rs 8.54 lakh
  4. V2 SD XXL – Rs 8.69 lakh
  5. V2 HD XXL – Rs 8.89 lakh
  6. V4 SD XXL – Rs 8.99 lakh
  7. V6 SD XXL – Rs 9.56 lakh

For the airbag option on the V2 and V4, buyers will have to pay an additional fee of 15,000 TL.

Mahindra has paid special attention to the safety standards of the Veero. The vehicle meets the stringent AIS096 crash safety standards. High strength steel (HSS) is used in the cabin, chassis and cargo body. The vehicle also features a driver airbag, reverse parking camera, false start prevention system and immobilizer.

Inside the cabin, you get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, air-conditioning with heater and demister, steering mounted controls, full TFT cluster and power windows. There is a certified driver plus two (D+2) seating arrangement. Mahindra has tried to make the cabin more comfortable for the passengers, especially the driver. You get over 50 connectivity features with the iMAXX.
