2 dead in crash on I-80 in Tinley Park – NBC Chicago

Two people were killed in a crash involving an SUV and a semi-truck on westbound I-80 in Tinley Park early Sunday morning, according to Illinois State Police.

Authorities said officers responded to the scene of a fatal crash at mile marker 146.5 in the westbound lanes of I-80 between La Grange Road and Harlem Boulevard in Tinley Park just after 4:20 a.m. for a report of a fatal crash.

Authorities said the crash involved a Dodge Journey SUV and a tractor-trailer, but it is not yet known how the crash occurred.

Two people involved in the crash have died, but it is not yet known which vehicles the deceased were in and whether anyone else was in the vehicles at the time of the collision.

The westbound lanes of I-80 near the crash site remained closed for hours while authorities investigated, but all lanes reopened by 9:20 a.m.
