Orangeville man facing impaired driving charges

The Orangeville Police Service has arrested and charged a 35-year-old Orangeville man, with impaired driving charges, as a result of fleeing from police.

On Sunday, July 12, 2020 at approximately 1:30 a.m., police attempted to stop a vehicle on Bythia Street near Church Street. The vehicle failed to stop when directed by police and fled northbound on Bythia Street at a high rate of speed. Police followed the vehicle to the parking lot of the Seven-Eleven Convenience Store where it came to a stop. Officers placed the male driver under arrest for Flight from Police.

As a result of the subsequent investigation, the male was also charged with additional criminal and provincial offence charges.

Jason Tyler McKenzie, 35, of Orangeville, was charged with Flight from Police, Operation While Impaired by Alcohol and Drugs, Resisting a Police Officer, Driving a Motor vehicle with No Licence and Driving a Motor vehicle with an Open Container of Alcohol.

The accused man was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Orangeville on September 22, 2020 to answer to the allegations.
