Two males arrested after altercation at Zina Street residence

The Orangeville Police Service has arrested and charged two men in connection with a disturbance at a Zina Street residence Sunday evening.

On Sunday, July 5, 2020, at approximately 7:55 p.m. the Orangeville Police Service received a call regarding an altercation at a Zina Street residence. Two males had attended the residence and one was reported to have been in possession of a hand gun. A female at the residence was assaulted and threatened by the males. Both males fled prior to police being called. At approximately 8:30 p.m., police received a report of a stolen vehicle from the parking lot of the Circle K convenience store located at 108 Dawson Road. A person had parked in front of the store and left his vehicle unlocked and running while he attended inside. A male exited the store and drove off in the victim’s vehicle. Police were called and received information that the person who stole the vehicle was the same person who was involved in the Zina Street incident earlier.

As a result of the investigation, Scott Christopher Lemos, 34, of Orangeville, was arrested and charged with Assault With a Weapon, Imitation Firearm- Use While Committing an Offence, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Extortion and Failure to Comply With a Release Order. The accused man remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

Kevin George Hoffman, 26, of Orangeville, was also arrested and charged with Assault, Extortion and Breach of a Peace Bond. The accused man was held in custody for a bail hearing and was released by the court. He is scheduled to appear again in court in Orangeville on September 15, 2020, to answer to the allegations.
