Male facing weapons charges

The Orangeville Police Service has arrested and charged a 20-year-old Orangeville man with weapons charges after a concerned family member contacted police for assistance.

On Thursday, June 4, 2020, the Orangeville Police Service received information that a male may be in unlawful possession of firearms. At approximately 7:30 p.m., the male was located by police in a parking lot near Century Drive and Parkview Drive. The male was investigated regarding the allegations. Police seized several rounds of ammunition, a switchblade knife and illicit drugs from the male.

As a result of the investigation, Jared Craig Flear-Hilts, 20, of Orangeville, was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition for a Dangerous Purpose, Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition and Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance-Opioid.

The accused male was held in custody for a bail hearing and was later released by the court. He is scheduled to appear in court in Orangeville on August 11, 2020 to answer to the allegations.
