Driver facing Impaired charges after vehicle strikes house

Your Orangeville Police Service has arrested and charged a 25-year-old woman with Impaired Driving as a result of a vehicle striking a house early Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at approximately 12:35 am a black, Volkswagen, Tiguan, was eastbound on Madison Avenue.  The vehicle then turned left and travelled northbound on Dawson Road, veering suddenly to the right, and into a residential driveway narrowly missing a witness standing in the area. The vehicle continued up the length of the driveway and struck the side of a house causing it to come to a halt. There were no injuries as a result of the collision.

Witnesses called police to report the incident. Officers arrived on scene and were directed to a female as she was attempting to run away from the witnesses. The female was investigated.

As a result of the investigation, Melanie Alysa Neil, 25, of Orangeville, was arrested and charged with Operation While Impaired by Alcohol, Operation While Impaired with Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80 and Dangerous Operation. The accused woman is scheduled to appear in court in Orangeville on March 24, 2020 to answer to the allegations.
