Police remind residents to plan ahead for a safe Super Bowl

Your Orangeville Police Service wishes to remind sports fans to plan ahead to ensure a safe and enjoyable Super Bowl event this Sunday.

If your Super Bowl plans include consuming alcohol or drugs, you should also be making plans for safe transportation for you and friends to and from the location where you will be enjoying the game.

Super Bowl Sunday is traditionally an event that sees an increase in people consuming alcohol or drugs and driving.  Avoid the risks associated with impaired driving by planning to have a designated driver, call a taxi, or avoid travelling all together.  If you are hosting a Super Bowl party, take care of your guests.  Make sure that they get home safe!

Orangeville Police officers will be out in full force Sunday evening being vigilant for impaired drivers throughout the community. R.I.D.E. checks will be set up at various locations before, during and after the game.

“Road safety is an ongoing priority for our service.  Impaired driving will not be tolerated in our community and we will continue our efforts to ensure the safety of the residents of Orangeville and guests”, said Chief Wayne Kalinski.

Impaired driving is a completely preventable offence and we encourage the public to call

9-1-1 if you suspect someone is driving impaired by either alcohol or drugs.

The Orangeville Police Service thanks residents for helping to keep our community safe.
