17 year old charged with stunt driving

Your Orangeville Police Service has charged a 17-year-old youth with Stunt Driving being stopped for travelling 72 km/h over the posted speed limit on B Line Thursday evening.

On Thursday, January 2, an Orangeville police officer was conducting traffic enforcement on B Line. This area is a posted 60 km/h zone. At approximately 7:30 p.m., police observed a small black vehicle traveling northbound at a high rate of speed. The officer’s radar device clocked the vehicle travelling at a speed of 132 km/h. The vehicle was directed to stop and the driver was investigated.

As a result of the investigation, the driver was charged with Stunt Driving: Excessive speed by more than 50 km/h over the posted speed limit. Police seized the vehicle to be impounded for 7 days and the driver received a 7 day licence suspension.

The youth is scheduled to appear in court in Orangeville later this month to answer to the charge.
