Fuel spill causes road closure

The Orangeville Police Service responded to a single vehicle collision Thursday afternoon that resulted in a short stretch of Townline being closed to remove a vehicle from the ditch and address a fuel spill.

On Thursday, December 19th, at approximately 2:15 p.m. Orangeville Police responded to the area of Townline just west of the Porterfield Road intersection. A truck had slid off of the roadway into the ditch. As the truck was being towed back onto the roadway it was discovered that the fuel tank had ruptured causing diesel fuel to spill into the ditch. The Orangeville Fire Department attended to address the fuel spill. The County of Dufferin took over the scene and Hazardous Materials Response Team attended.

A section of Townline remains closed, from Porterfield Road to the east entrance of the plaza at 400 Townline, as the clean-up continues.

There were no injuries and no charges as a result of the incident.
