Rockwood man charged with stunt driving

Your Orangeville Police Service has charged a 51-year-old Rockwood man after he was clocked travelling 59 km/h over the posted speed limit on Veteran’s Way Saturday morning.

On Saturday, August 17, 2019, an Orangeville police officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Veteran’s Way. This area is a posted 60 km/h zone and police receive many complaints regarding the excessive speeds of vehicles travelling on the road.

At approximately 8:00 a.m., police observed a yellow Mercedes traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer’s radar unit clocked the vehicle travelling at a speed of 119 km/h. The vehicle was directed to stop and the driver was investigated.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 51-year-old Rockwood man, was charged with Stunt Driving: Excessive Speed by more than 50 km/h over the posted speed limit.

Police seized the vehicle to be impounded for 7 days and the driver received a 7 day licence suspension.

The accused man is scheduled to appear in court in Orangeville on September 18th to answer to the allegations.
