E-bike crash results in impaired driving charges

Your Orangeville Police Service has arrested and charged a 64-year-old Amaranth man with several criminal charges, including impaired driving, after crashing his e-bike on Broadway near Fourth Street Friday evening.

On Friday, July 26, 2019, at approximately 6:40p.m., a male was operating an e-bike eastbound on Broadway near Fourth Street. The rider lost control of the bike, struck the curb and collided with a flower pot in front of 46 Broadway. The crash caused the rider to fall off of the bike. Police came upon the collision scene seconds later. EMS was dispatched to assess the man for injuries. Upon further investigation, the man was arrested for impaired driving.

Robert Lulic, 64, of Amaranth, is charged with Operation While Impaired- Alcohol and Drugs, Operation While Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80, five counts of Operation While Prohibited and two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order. The accused man was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Orangeville on August 13, 2019, to answer to the allegations.
