Orangeville man charged with stunt driving

Your Orangeville Police Service has charged an 18-year-old Orangeville man with Stunt Driving after he was clocked travelling 63 km/h over the posted speed limit on Spencer Avenue, Thursday night.

On Thursday, May 16, 2019, an Orangeville police officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Spencer Avenue near Sandringham Circle. This area is a posted 40 km/h, Community Safety Zone and police receive many complaints regarding the excessive speeds of vehicles on Spencer Avenue.

At approximately 9:40 p.m., police observed a maroon BMW traveling westbound at a high rate of speed. The officer’s radar device clocked the vehicle travelling at a speed of 103 km/h. The vehicle was directed to stop and the driver was investigated.

As a result of the investigation, the driver was charged with Stunt Driving: Excessive speed by more than 50 km/h over the posted speed limit.

Police seized the vehicle for a 7 day impoundment and the driver received a 7 day licence suspension.

The accused male is scheduled to appear in court in Orangeville on June 5th, to answer to the allegations.
