Scarborough woman charged with stunt driving

Your Orangeville Police Service has charged a 63-year-old Scarborough woman after she was clocked travelling 53 km/h over the posted speed limit on Broadway, Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday, May 15, 2019, an Orangeville police officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Broadway in the area of Diane Drive. This area is a posted 50 km/h zone and police receive many complaints regarding the excessive speeds of vehicles travelling on the road.

At approximately 11:15 a.m., police observed a blue Volkswagen Jetta traveling westbound at a high rate of speed. The officer’s radar device clocked the vehicle travelling at a speed of 103 km/h. The vehicle was directed to stop and the driver was investigated.

As a result of the investigation, the driver was charged with Stunt Driving: Excessive speed by more than 50 km/h over the posted speed limit.

Police seized the vehicle to be impounded for 7 days and the driver received a 7 day licence suspension.

The accused female is scheduled to appear in court in Orangeville on June 5th, to answer to the allegations.
