Alliston woman charged with stunt driving

Your Orangeville Police Service has charged a 37-year-old Alliston woman after she was clocked travelling 70 km/h over the posted speed limit on Veteran’s Way Wednesday evening.

On Wednesday, April 17, 2019, an Orangeville police officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Veteran’s Way. This area is a posted 60 km/h zone and police receive many complaints regarding the excessive speeds of vehicles travelling on the road.

At approximately 7:15 p.m., police observed a 2019 Toyota traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer’s radar unit clocked the vehicle travelling at a speed of 130 km/h. The vehicle was directed to stop and driver was investigated.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 37-year-old Alliston woman, was charged with Stunt Driving: Excessive Speed by more than 50 km/h over the posted speed limit.

Police seized the vehicle to be impounded for 7 days and the driver received a 7 day licence suspension.

The accused female is scheduled to appear in court in Orangeville on May 20th to answer to the allegations.
