Youth facing Impaired Driving charges after vehicle strikes house

The Orangeville Police Service has arrested and charged a 17-year-old male with impaired driving after his vehicle left the roadway and struck a house early Sunday morning.

On Sunday, December 31st, 2017, at approximately 2:20 am, police received a call to attend an address on Burbank Crescent as the homeowner believed that someone was attempting to break into the residence. Police arrived on scene a short time later and discovered that a silver Jeep had left the roadway and struck the house. Officers located the driver of the vehicle at the scene. There were no injuries to either the driver or any of the occupants of the home. The house received what was described as major damage. Caledon Dufferin Victim Services attended the scene to support the home owner.

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old male, was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle by Drugs. The youth, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and a Person Under 19 Years Having Liquor.

The Youth was released from custody to a parent and is scheduled to appear in court in Orangeville on January 15, 2018, to answer to the allegations.
